Age Calculator: Hijri and Gregorian

Enter your date of birth (Gregorian or Hijri) to see your age in both calendars and the date of your next birthday in each.

Date of birth

Why are the two ages different?

A Hijri year is about 11 days shorter than a Gregorian year, so a person accumulates Hijri years slightly faster. After 33 Gregorian years you are about 34 Hijri years old.

About accuracy: dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar. The start of a month may differ by one day from the official announcement in your country, which is based on moon sighting. You can adjust the day (±1) above, and you can read how we calculate.

How this tool works

Enter your date of birth in either calendar to see your age in years, months and days in both calendars, the total number of days, and your next birthday in the Gregorian and Hijri calendars. Hijri age is calculated on the real Umm al-Qura months, not by dividing days by a fixed number.

Worked examples

Someone born on 15 May 1990 (20 Shawwal 1410 AH) is, on 29 October 2026, 36 years, 5 months, 14 days old in Gregorian terms and 37 years, 6 months, 28 days in Hijri terms, which is 13,316 days.

Common questions

Why is my Hijri age larger?

The Hijri year is about 11 days shorter than the Gregorian one, so the difference accumulates: someone aged 30 in Gregorian years is about 31 in Hijri years.

How are months and days counted?

The birth date is subtracted from today’s date year by year, month by month and day by day, borrowing from the previous month at its real length (29 or 30 days in Hijri, 28 to 31 in Gregorian) when needed.

Is my data stored?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and your date of birth is not sent anywhere.
