Days Between Two Dates

Pick two dates in either calendar and see the difference in days, weeks, months and years.

First date
Second date

About accuracy: dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar. The start of a month may differ by one day from the official announcement in your country, which is based on moon sighting. You can adjust the day (±1) above, and you can read how we calculate.

How this tool works

Pick two dates in either calendar and the tool shows the number of days between them (with weeks) and the difference in years, months and days in both the Gregorian and Hijri calendars. The start day is not counted, and if the first date is later than the second the tool swaps them for you.

Worked examples

From 15 March 2020 to 29 October 2026: 2,419 days (345 weeks and 4 days), that is 6 years, 7 months, 14 days in Gregorian terms and 6 years, 9 months, 28 days in Hijri terms.

Common questions

Why does the difference in months vary between the calendars?

A Gregorian month has 28 to 31 days and a Hijri month 29 or 30, and the Hijri year is about 11 days shorter. The total number of days is the fixed figure that does not change.

Is the start day counted?

No. The difference is the gap between the two dates, so there is one day between the 1st and the 2nd.

When should I use weeks?

For short periods and projects, because a week is always 7 days, unlike a month or a year.
